Moose hunting on exclusive rights territory

For a remarkable moose hunt, discover our 60 km2 territory with exclusive rights. It is accessible by seaplane after a 35-minute flight from Ste-Anne-du-Lac. The configuration of the hunting territories of Lac Sauterelle allows us to preserve a superior quality of moose hunting.

In addition, our 4 hunting cabins offer great comfort and rest, giving you the opportunity to enjoy an exceptional moose hunt on vast territories.

In order to preserve an unmatched hunting quality and ensure the success of your hunt, we have divided this large territory into 4 of more than 10 km2 each. One moose per territory per week can be killed, whether for a group of 2 to 6 hunters. It is important to note that speckled trout fishing at this time of year is closed.

Cottages

Two of our 4 moose hunting cabins are grouped on a stunning site of a 5 km-long lake, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The other two hunting cabins are secluded on separate lakes (Johnson and Sheila), each with its own exclusive hunting territory. Accessible only by seaplane, our high-quality hunting cabins are fully equipped, allowing you to enjoy the charm and seclusion of an unforgettable hunting experience in Haute-Mauricie region.

Equipment

For each hunting site at Lac Sauterelle, a boat is provided for each hunter. These include Princecraft Yukon 15 aluminum boats equipped with 8 HP Mercury 4-stroke outboard motors, swivel seats, and life jackets. Additionally, each small expedition lake, accessible via maintained trails, features a 14-foot boat with a 4 HP 4-stroke motor or a square-stern canoe.

Personal belongings

Our packages are on a European plan. This means you need to bring your own food and personal belongings. You should also plan for::

  • Hunting equipment
  • Hunting license (available at our offices)

  • Sleeping bag, pillows, towels, dishcloths, etc.;
  • In addition to your sleeping bag, bring a fitted single sheet to cover your mattress (for couples, a Queen-sized fitted sheet can cover both mattresses);
  • Paper towels, napkins and toilet paper;
  • Trash bags, Ziploc bags, plastic wrap;
  • Salt, pepper, sugar, condiments, etc.;
  • Most popular weapons: 30-06, 270, 300 or magnum caliber;
  • Fluorescent orange bib;
  • Appropriate clothing according to the season;
  • Equipment for gutting and packaging meat;
  • Soap, dish soap, and cleaning products to ensure you and your cabin stay clean throughout your hunting trip;
  • Note: a case of 24 canned beers weighs 17 pounds less than a bottle (18 lbs instead of 35 lbs).

Package

An experienced aide-de-camp is on-site to handle every detail and indicate you the most productive moose hunting spots. While our hunts are not guided, the territories are fully prepared with well-maintained trails, salt licks, and hunting stands. We provide a personalized service throughout your experience on our Lake Sauterelle territory. Departing from our base at Ste-Anne-du-Lac, here is what is included in the Lake Sauterelle package:

  • Round trip seaplane transport from Sainte-Anne-du-Lac
  • Game transport to base in our modern cold room
  • Fully equipped cabin
  • Unlimited fuel/Topographic map with trails, lookouts and salt licks
  • Satellite communication available in case of emergency
  • Caretaker on-site providing personalized service

The weight limit is 1200 pounds for groups of 2 to 4, including passengers and luggage. For those concerned about exceeding the required weight limit for the seaplane, we offer the option of delivering beer and drinking water to your cabin before your arrival. This service is available at a reasonable cost.

If there is an excess of 500 pounds of luggage or more, we guarantee its delivery by the end of the day.

Hunting regulations

Air Tamarac holds the exclusive rights for moose hunting on the territory of Lac Sauterelle, which is 60 km2. To maintain the high quality and success of your moose hunt, we have divided this large territory into 4, where one moose per territory per week can be killed.

  • In Quebec, a minimum of 2 hunters is required for a hunting expedition.
  • Each hunter must have a hunting license (available at our offices).
  • Hunting with a crossbow, bow and black powder is prohibited.
  • Wearing a fluorescent orange hunting vest is mandatory. Any hunter or person accompanying them must wear a vest that extends over the back, shoulders and chest.
  • Game registration is done when you leave. A registration station is available in Ste-Anne-du-Lac or register on-line.

Hunting Territory

The hunting territories at Lake Sauterelle, each covering an area of 10 km², provide access to several smaller hunting lakes. The territory is maintained by Air Tamarac staff, with meticulous work carried out throughout the summer to upkeep trails and lookout points, select the best locations for salt blocks, and scout areas ideal for moose observation. Canoes, boats, and a stretcher for transport are made available to you.
