2025 in review

Dear sportsmen and friends,

As we celebrate this festive season, we would like to wish you an excellent year 2026, filled with health, memorable moments, great adventures, and big fish! It is also the perfect time to share our latest achievements and introduce the projects ahead. We are truly grateful for your loyal and passionate support. Thank you for being part of the TAMARAC family, the fly-in specialist for hunting and fishing in Québec!

LOOKING BACK AT 2025

Another beautiful season has come to an end. Despite rainy weather and cooler temperatures than usual, 2025 will be remembered as a banner year for walleye. Indeed, both on the Gouin Reservoir and Lake Hébert, the average length of walleye was higher than in previous years. And a record number of trophy fish were released! Our rigorous wildlife management continues to offer you the chance to make memorable catches.

These weather conditions occasionally made fishing for brook trout more challenging at Sauterelle Lake, but 2026 only promises a great comeback!

And in contrast to the summer we experienced, the fall season turned out warm, dry, and sunny. Not ideal for moose hunting, you might say… However, when the first cold nights finally arrived, our Sauterelle and Angèle territories produced three magnificent mature bulls—the only ones we allow to be harvested.

We couldn’t wrap up a season without thanking our loyal and outstanding team. The attentiveness of our experienced caretakers, the safety ensured by our seasoned pilots, and the warm welcome at Clova and Sainte-Anne-du-Lac all contribute to making your stay a success year after year.

Oh yes! And for those who were wondering: Estelle Blanchard was born at mid-November 2025. Congratulations to Charlotte and Louis.

PROJECTS REALIZED AND THOSE TO COME

We are always proud to share the improvements we continuously bring to our equipment and cabins to elevate your experience. In that spirit, the new “Shore Lunch” spot at Lake Hébert is now completed. Featuring a sink with running water, a fish-cleaning station, and a burner for cooking your meals, it is sure to brighten your best moments. Accessible by our new network of hiking trails or by boat, it’s the perfect spot to celebrate or simply admire the sunset. Believe us, this new addition is worth the stop!

As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance your comfort, we will be converting all ten Gouin Reservoir cabins to solar power in 2026. This upgrade, already realized at Lake Hébert, will allow you to enjoy electric refrigerators and proper lighting.

Following this, we will begin another ambitious project: renovating the Gouin cabins to add bathrooms. Cabin #17, located on the Saraana River, received this royal treatment last fall and will be offered fully renovated this spring, while the three cabins in Saraana West Bay will be updated in the fall of 2026.

The Sauterelle cabins, already powered by solar energy, will not be left behind, as we will be installing electric refrigerators there as well—to minimize our environmental footprint and keep your beer colder than ever!

Finally—promises made, promises kept: on the Gouin, get ready to navigate in comfort and with dry feet, thanks to brand-new 16-foot Princecraft Springbok boats, larger and equipped, just like at Hébert, with 2026 Mercury engines featuring electric starters. Your feedback has been heard, and we’ve responded proactively.
